I’ve written for as long as I can remember, drafting sequels to my favorite children’s books and building my own research projects. My career in engineering took me down a different path, but the pull to write never faded. Today, I write for engineering and commissioning publications and share practical insights through my newest venture, the Field Notes newsletter.
I grew up shy, but I knew leadership required me to step beyond my comfort zone. Speaking gave me that push. At first, it challenged me to stay grounded while standing in front of a room, but over time I discovered something bigger: speaking lets me connect.
Podcasting pushed me outside my comfort zone in a way that felt less intimidating than speaking on stage. Through the GLOE Podcast, I connected one-on-one with people about their experiences, and with Failurology, I explored the psychology of engineering and how projects fail. Both deepened my ability to connect and share ideas that matter.
